Hewing Hotel is in Minneapolis' vibrant North Loop neighborhood, more commonly known as the Warehouse District, joining cultural stalwarts Traffic Zone Center for Visual Arts and Target Field, home to baseball's Minnesota Twins. With easy access to all interstates as well as Minneapolis' Metro Transit Blue Line and Northstar Commuter Rail, The Hewing sits at the literal crossroads of the Twin Cities.

While Minneapolis presents a plethora of hospitality options, none tap into the local culture to create importance and significance beyond the business traveler. The Hewing occupies the historic Jackson Building, originally built in 1897, at the gateway to the Warehouse District, immediately tying it to local culture like no other competitor.

The hotel is managed by Aparium who was founded in 2011 by Chicago hospitality executive and entrepreneur Mario Tricoci and luxury hotel veteran Kevin Robinson. The duo saw a clear need for a company that could bring c-suite service and accommodations to underserved, yet distinct and important cities, while maintaining and celebrating the unadulterated character of each. Driven by the belief that all hospitality experiences should be fueled by the poetics of their surroundings, Aparium was born with an intense focus on unearthing the amazing moments unique to every city.

You are someone who knows firsthand what it takes to clean a full board of rooms and understands the sense of pride that comes with owning your own floor. You know hospital corners aren't just for hospitals and the prefect crease on a bed sheet makes you smile. It doesn't matter where you are, you can't help yourself from refolding the bathroom towels. You thrive on the excitement that comes from turning a room during the 3 pm check-in rush. You can't walk a hallway without picking up loose items, and your pockets are always full when you get home from work.


THE ROLE

The Housekeeping Supervisor reports to the Housekeeping Manager while providing some insight to the Director of Rooms, working together to deliver remarkable service throughout all aspects of the department. A large degree of care is needed to support the Housekeeping department, while collaboration is needed to work in tandem with the Engineering and Guest Services teams. The Housekeeping Supervisor helps lead the team using a collaborative approach as they know that the ability to act as a soldier is as critical as being a general.


The Housekeeping Supervisor is expected to lead by example while spending much of the day engaging with both associates and guests. Leaders are encouraged to inspire and challenge each other to be their best. As a leader within Aparium Hotel Group, the Housekeeping Supervisor will work with a phenomenal group of peers who insist that they are collaborative, humble, experienced and open-minded - no egos are allowed.


The Housekeeping Supervisor will maintain and execute the standards for the guest room experience during.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Reinforce the company's Art + Science ideologies to ensure the experiences of translocal hospitality, intuitive service and collaboration are implemented and modeled
• Actively assist in training, scheduling, coaching and motivating associates to create an environment that nurtures ideas and develops future talent for succession planning
• Ensure a sense of belonging for associates by upholding the company's values and guidelines for a respectful workplace and developing and environment where diversity, equity and inclusion is celebrated
• Demonstrate and uphold behaviors outlined within the Respectful Workplace Policy, Work Rules and Associate Handbook
• Model the company's open-door policy and employee engagement practices
• Demonstrate a positive work ethic and attitude
• Consistently guide and monitor business ethics, ensuring good business practices
• Demonstrate passion and an aptitude for all aspects of a guest's experience, coaching your team to handle all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, encouraging your team to find creative solutions in order accommodate guest requests whenever possible
• Observe conditions of all physical facilities and equipment in the hotel operation, noticing the smallest detail which may go unseen by the untrained eye
• Work in collaboration with other operating divisions and any third-party vendors to execute detailed cleaning and preventative maintenance programs to ensure the appearance of all furniture, fixtures and equipment throughout the hotel
• Assist with and help coach your team to complete the necessary activities for the day, such as inspecting rooms, cleaning guest rooms or stocking supplies, to ensure standards are achieved and associates feel supported and valued to exceed guests' needs
• Be knowledgeable in all matters related to the safety, security, satisfaction and well-being of hotel guests and associates, responding swiftly and effectively in any hotel emergency or safety situations
• Foster open lines of communication within the department by assisting in daily line-ups and departmental staff meetings to create a transparent dialogue among the team to voice ideas and concerns, while addressing the department's key priorities
• Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to team members to develop their skill set, fostering an environment of continuous growth
• Perform other job-related duties as requested

HOW YOU WILL LEAD

• Assist with direct support for your team through coaching, counseling, gentle correction and constructive feedback
• Collaborate effectively with all departments in the hotel including Sales, Banquets, Engineering, Food & Beverage and Culinary to provide an exemplary guest experience
• Be comfortable in debating ideas before implementing a decision that will impact operations property-wide, as we do not work in silos
• Be respectful in your daily interactions with your managers, direct reports and peers, exemplifying the utmost level of professionalism and being a pillar within your community
• Highly analytical in thought and recommendations, you also maintain the ability to express a point of view in respectful manner
• Engage others in general conversation to build rapport quickly, with the ability to lead and adapt communication and presentation styles to engage a wide range of audiences and stakeholders
• Approaches fact finding and discovery missions as a collaborative effort; values input and experiences of others that creates additional insight to uncover deeper issues that need to be addressed
• Can influence others to effectively drive results and take direction in order to execute on strategy
• Being comfortable prioritizing your work and that of others
• Prioritize and organize your own work, when necessary, by working flexible or extended hours to accommodate increased workload

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• (2) two years of Hospitality-related experience, preferably within Housekeeping
• Proficiency in the English language in reading, writing and verbal communication; Spanish language skills are a plus
• Adaptable interpersonal communication skills to address all employee levels of the hotel
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and Word to create/update spreadsheets
• The ability to work varying schedules that includes days with varying out times, weekends and holidays
• The ability to work in a dog-friendly work environment
