General Mechanic

Job Details Job Location: KINGMAN, AZ 86401 POSITION OBJECTIVE To install, repair, and maintain production equipment, buildings, and facilities. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum High School or equivalent experience. Electrical and mechanical experience, complete capability to read and produce drawings, knowledge of electrical codes, and use shop math. TRAINING The first year will be on the job training, learning the manufacturing process, and the electrical equipment throughout the plant. Continuous training on the job as new equipment is installed and projects are designed and developed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Descriptions of duties, physical, and visual requirements. Tasks and duties Maintains work area to THM standards. Installs, sets up and maintains mechanical equipment as directed and assists others with electrical equipment. Diagnoses and employs the proper procedures for repair and trouble shooting. Possesses a working knowledge of the following equipment: Arc and gas welding equipment. Gas cutting equipment. Power tools such as the drill press, cut-off saw, and portable power tools. Hand tools and testing equipment of both electrical and mechanical trades. Determines when parts need replacement and repairs are necessary. Uses rigging when necessary to accomplish job. Possesses a working knowledge of mechanical drawings and schematics. Works in cooperation with the Production department at all times. Works in the company of others in the performance of both mechanical and electrical duties. Operates mobile hoisting equipment in performance of E & R work. Possesses the necessary tools of the trade. Works in teams with others in E & R and Production. Uses safe working practices and reports hazardous conditions at all times. Keeps E & R equipment and working area clean and orderly. Trains inexperienced employees on the job as required. Directs the activities of another when assigned. Fills out records as required. Performs miscellaneous jobs as directed. Operates forklifts as necessary. Maintains forklift certification. Physical/Visual Activities Required Have adequate sight, hearing, and use of limbs to safely operate all powered vehicles, I.E., forklifts and sweepers. Sight capabilities to distinguish proper products identification as well as warning and operational indicators. Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators. Sight capabilities to identify accuracy and neatness of required job assignments. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling capabilities to handle job requirements such as operating, cleaning, or packaging equipment and products. Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching in all areas due to possible limited direct supervision and/or observation. Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other fellow employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements. Hear and understand verbal communication whether it be face to face or via telephone. See and understand written communication. Ability to confirm by sight quality level of raw materials to determine proper use of each. Lift up to 70 pounds and carry up to 30 feet. Walking through, under, and around equipment with clearance of 30". Push and/or pull up to 2500 pounds up to 30 feet with the aid of material handling equipment. Ability to feel objects, textures, size, and shape and to determine temperatures by touching of skin, primarily by that of fingertips. Ability to grasp tools (manual as well as powered) and use them in accordance with a safe working manner so as not to injure oneself or fellow employees. I.E., power saws, drills, hammers, presses, latches, etc. Sight capability to safely operate at arm's length machinery power and/or hand tools needed to accomplish the requirements of the job assignments for this position. Work Environment Conditions Inside and outside environments apply. Subject to extreme cold, temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Subject to extreme heat, temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Subject to noise, causing reason to shout in order to be heard above the noise level. Subject to vibration, exposure fluctuating movements of the body. Subject to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure to chemicals, gasses, high heat, or explosives. Subject to unregulated atmospheric conditions caused by odors, fumes, gases, poor ventilation, and dusts. Subject to oils and other cutting fluids. AUTHORITY/DECISION MAKING State closeness of supervision, control by policy or procedure, direction of others. Works under J-M policy and procedures on day-to-day basis.
