Case Clerk - Portland, OR (Hybrid)

Under the supervision of an Attorney, a Case Clerk is responsible for assisting the litigation team with creating, maintaining and updating case files, indexing documents, and client document intake. The Case Clerk works as a team with attorneys and paralegals with various entry level billable casework as needed. This is an entry-level position that offers a career development pathway to a Paralegal role. With appropriate training, education, and demonstrated work experience, the successful candidate may be eligible to advance into a Paralegal position. This position is resident in Portland, OR and follows a hybrid work schedule working in-office 2-3 days per week. Responsibilities Help create and maintain litigation files, including client documents received. Provide records intake and distribution services by receiving, logging in and creating files for deposition transcripts and subpoenaed records. Electronically file documents in Document Management system. Assist paralegals and attorneys with litigation support needs and act as a liaison with outside vendor for bulk scanning and production services. Scan, review, index and code documents in appropriate litigation support databases. Assist paralegals and attorneys with preparation of witness files, assemble deposition files, trial notebooks and other hearing binders; assist with assembling exhibits in support of motions. Prepare subpoenas and coordinate service. Schedule depositions. Bates labeling. Redactions on documents Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job. Education & Certifications Minimum education required Associate’s Degree. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Paralegal certificate from an accredited paralegal program a plus. Experience Required Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints is essential. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys, paralegals and staff in person, by email and by telephone to provide information in an appropriate business manner. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Ability to retrieve and distribute volumes, push and pull carts of materials weighing up to 20 pounds and ability to retrieve from and replace objects on shelves up to 8 feet high. Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform essential duties of the position.
