Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Full Time Permanent

UP Health System, a leading provider of comprehensive healthcare services across Michigan's Upper Peninsula, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide high-quality respiratory care to patients of varying ages and acuity levels, supporting our mission to promote health, healing, and community wellness. As a Respiratory Therapist with UP Health System, you will perform thorough respiratory assessments, implement physician-ordered treatment plans, and deliver a full range of respiratory therapies, including oxygen administration, aerosol and nebulizer treatments, bronchial hygiene therapies, airway management, and non-invasive and invasive ventilator support. You will obtain and analyze arterial blood gases, monitor patient responses to therapy, adjust treatment plans within established guidelines, and promptly communicate significant changes in patient status to providers and the interdisciplinary care team. You will set up, operate, and troubleshoot a variety of respiratory care equipment, such as ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP devices, oxygen delivery systems, and airway clearance devices, ensuring equipment is used safely and in accordance with infection prevention protocols. Accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record will be essential, as will adhering to departmental policies, regulatory standards, and best-practice clinical guidelines. Working in a patient-centered, collaborative environment, you will partner closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans, participate in rounds, and support transitions of care. You will educate patients and families about respiratory conditions, medications, devices, and home-care strategies, helping them understand and manage their respiratory health beyond the hospital setting. In this position, you will actively participate in emergency responses such as rapid response and code situations, providing airway management and ventilatory support as a critical member of the resuscitation team.
