Legal Recruiting Business Partner - Los Angeles

The Legal Recruiting Business Partner is responsible for the successful recruitment and onboarding of lateral associate attorneys (inclusive of off-track attorneys and technical professionals) firm-wide. This role executes the firm’s lateral recruiting strategy and onboarding approach for experienced lateral associate attorneys, off-track attorneys, and technical professionals firm-wide. The Business Partner functions as an individual contributor and operates as a trusted advisor to firm leadership and practice groups, providing insight into market trends, candidate dynamics, and recruiting strategies that support the firm’s business objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of the firm’s practice areas and the ability to translate those insights into effective recruiting approaches, policies, and processes. The Business Partner reports to the Director of Early Career and Associate Recruiting and, as a member of the Legal Recruiting Department, works collaboratively on initiatives to support attorney recruiting firm wide. Primary Responsibilities: Serve as a strategic advisor to practice group leaders, office managing partners, and senior leadership on lateral recruiting needs, market intelligence, and talent acquisition strategy. Contribute to the development and refinement of firm-wide lateral recruiting strategies, aligning hiring activity with practice priorities and firm goals. Provide recommendations on candidate selection, pipeline development, and recruiting approaches based on market data and experience. Identify opportunities to improve recruiting outcomes through process enhancements and innovative sourcing strategies. Independently manage the full-cycle lateral recruiting process, from intake and candidate sourcing through offer and onboarding, for experienced attorneys and technical professionals. Exercise independent judgment and discretion in evaluating candidates, assessing qualifications, and advising stakeholders on hiring decisions, with attorneys retaining ultimate authority over hiring determinations. Conduct and oversee structured interviews, synthesize feedback, and facilitate debrief discussions to support informed hiring decisions. Act as the primary liaison to candidates throughout the recruiting process, ensuring a consistent and high-quality experience. Manage a portfolio of active searches, prioritizing work and coordinating with recruiting specialists and coordinators for administrative support. Develop, implement, and maintain recruiting policies, operational procedures, and standards to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with firm objectives. Review and refine recruiting documentation, templates, and communications to ensure clarity, compliance, and alignment with established protocols. Ensure accurate and complete maintenance of candidate records and recruiting data in accordance with departmental standards. Serve as the firm’s representative to candidates, search firms, and external partners, ensuring a professional and positive candidate experience. Advise internal stakeholders on best practices for candidate evaluation, recruiting process, and engagement strategies. Lead interview team debriefs to align perspectives and support structured, consistent decision-making. Continuously evaluate and enhance recruiting processes, tools, and workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, and data quality. Leverage insights and data to inform decision-making and identify trends in lateral hiring and market conditions. Collaborate with other Legal Recruiting Business Partners to ensure consistency and alignment across the lateral recruiting function. Partner with Legal Recruiting Department leadership on strategic initiatives, special projects, and firm-wide recruiting efforts. Represent the firm internally and externally as a knowledgeable and credible voice on lateral recruiting and talent acquisition. Participate in professional recruiting organizations and industry forums to remain current on best practices and market trends. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience required. 5+ years of full cycle recruiting experience required. Preference for experience in a professional services or law firm environment. Excellent interpersonal skills – enthusiastic, proactive, positive attitude. Ability to gain the respect, trust, and confidence of the firm’s members, colleagues, and external search consultants, and the ability to manage up, down, and laterally within an organization. Ability to quickly get up to speed and master new applications and software is critical. High level of integrity and honesty; ability to handle confidential matters with discretion. Ability to travel regularly (approximately 25%) to the firm’s U.S. and Canadian offices The salary range for this position in the LA office is: $120,000-$150,000 This position is bonus eligible.
