As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department , your ability to impact patient care is both recognized and encouraged at every level. This includes fostering open, collaborative relationships with your direct supervisor as well as engaging in more formal avenues through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You will play a crucial role in shaping decisions that enhance patient outcomes and the future of nursing.
Job Overview and QualificationsThe Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-focused care that aligns with departmental needs and adheres to the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Working alongside medical professionals and other members of the healthcare team, the RN provides personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care utilizing established nursing frameworks such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN acts as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization’s vision, mission, and values to ensure an exceptional patient experience and clinical outcomes that enhance overall departmental performance.
- Regularly evaluates patient pain to facilitate effective pain management, including follow-up assessments after interventions.
- Conducts procedures, monitoring, or other tasks as directed by medical providers, ensuring timely and thorough documentation in the patient’s medical record.
- Delivers outstanding care by promptly addressing patient requests and proactively anticipating and resolving their needs.
- Educates patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up actions, simplifying complex medical terminology for better understanding.
- Instructs patients, families, and caregivers on non-medical follow-up strategies, such as healthy eating, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle modifications, preparing them for future self-management.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 6 months of starting employment.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
- NIH Stroke Scale certification must be obtained within 60 days of starting employment.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course certification must be completed within 1 year of starting employment.
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma must be completed within 1 year of starting employment.
- No travel is required.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required.
