Asset Protection Associate - Part Time Location: Wichita Scheels, 7700 E Kellogg Drive STE G05B, Wichita, KS 67207, USA Overview This individual will provide a safe working and shopping experience to patrons of Scheels through the reduction and deterrence of loss. The Asset Protection Associate will assist all Scheels' associates in fulfilling customer service and safety standards, while maintaining a discreet, professional presence in Scheels stores. Responsibilities Communicate with leadership regarding encounters and investigations Maintain a professional relationship with local authorities and law enforcement agencies Collaborate with law enforcement and other local retailers to identify organized retail crime threats Assist leadership with cash handling and transfers Observe customers and associates for potential acts of theft or fraud Take appropriate action to prevent theft; apprehend individuals engaged in theft activity when prevention is not effective Conduct surveillance and apprehension of external theft suspects in compliance with company ethical standards and guidelines Monitor video via CCTV and conduct on-site interviews Maintain all apprehension and investigation records according to company standards Develop and maintain knowledge and use of CCTV surveillance equipment Assist in monitoring store compliance with company policies and procedures related to theft deterrence, safety, and operational controls, as assigned by the supervisor Maintain a high visible deterrent to crime and positively influence the security incident rate and assist with inventory controls Safety Help mitigate security risks to provide a safer environment for employees and customers Welcome all customers, visitors, and vendors professionally and assist them in locating staff within the stores Issue electric handicapped shopping carts to customers and assist in obtaining wheelchairs and shopping carts Examine and properly tag property being brought into the stores, including personal property, equipment for service, and firearms Watch facilities and parking areas on foot; direct traffic during special events or heavy customer traffic, while enforcing parking regulations Make regularly scheduled floor and exterior walks to ensure the safety and security of the customers and facility Complete monthly reports on safe or non-safe practices found on the sales floor or backstocks First Responder Help customers and staff with vehicle break-downs, lock‑outs, and retrieve shopping carts from parking areas React as necessary and assist in handling any situations – shoplifting, medical emergencies, and inclement weather Work assigned schedules that may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays Schedule & Wage Wage: $17 Per Hour. Must be available to work between the hours of 9 am to 9 pm Monday through Friday and be able to work on an every other weekend rotation. Schedule may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays; must be available a minimum of two weekends a month. Average hours per week is 20 hours. Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
