Licensed Practical Nurse PT Nights UCHC ADTC STU Overview University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), operating within Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, provides physical, mental health, dental, and sex offender treatment services to individuals in the criminal justice system in New Jersey. This position is located at the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center in Avenel, NJ and is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care within a correctional environment. Posting Summary This is a part‑time, night‑shift licensed practical nurse position. The nurse works under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse, providing technical nursing care and contributing to the patient care plan. The role requires collaboration with health care professionals and security personnel. Responsibilities Collect data related to patient status and needs. Provide input to the registered nurse for incorporation into the care plan. Offer direct patient care within scope of practice to implement the care plan. Inform and instruct patients and significant others on health conditions and care plans. Assist patients and significant others in discharge preparation and home health maintenance. Document all aspects of patient care. Qualifications Valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Current CPR certification. Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle or other reliable transportation to and from the site. Preferred: at least six months of experience in an acute hospital setting. Physical Demands and Work Environment First responders must be capable of performing CPR for at least 10 minutes and assist in lifting and rotating patients who may be unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).
