Overview Position: Senior Locksmith - Public Safety Department: Identity & Access Management UW Posting Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Locksmith for the Police Department. The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs approximately 2,700 staff and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations across the State of New Jersey, including planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations. Responsibilities Plan and coordinate locksmithing duties including servicing lock failures, cutting duplicate keys, installation and repair of door checks, panic bars, buzzer systems, and security detection devices of all types. Pin and repair locks; repair and/or replace doors. Perform duties of Locksmith and maintain shop and work areas. Detect faulty operation of equipment; report conditions to supervisor and issue work orders as necessary. Conduct inventory of equipment, materials and supplies; advise management when to reorder stock. Estimate work time, prepare material lists, and provide materials for oneself or the team. Perform related duties as required and provide guidance and instruction to craft trainees. Repair and maintenance of University facilities, supplies, and materials; prioritize and estimate work; notify supervisor of emergent problems. Plan and perform repair and preventive maintenance for various University property and equipment; input data to fulfill job responsibilities using current technology; generate and complete automated work orders or service orders. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience: High school/vocational school education or equivalent. Certifications/Licenses: A valid New Jersey Locksmith and Burglar Alarm License. A valid driver's license with two years driving experience. Ability to successfully complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course. May be required to obtain Commercial Driver's License. Will be required to obtain PSP certification within one year of appointment. Must maintain licenses while in job title. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Competent in performing complex and varied repair and installation of locking devices including electronic locking devices. Preferred Qualifications: May be required to obtain a Commercial Driver's License. Equipment and Work Environment Shift hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Clean driving record required.
