SALARY RANGE: $37,404.00 - $60,502.00 The Office of the Clerk of Superior Court, Jackson County, is seeking a qualified individual to serve in the position of deputy clerk in the legal system of North Carolina by processing, controlling and maintaining documentation of court cases. As a deputy clerk, you may perform a variety of duties including working in the courtroom, providing customer service, data entry, typing, filing, cash receipting, multi-tasking, and an assortment of other tasks. This is an office of 13 employees, and duties will be set out by the elected Clerk of Superior Court. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences As a Deputy Clerk, you may perform a variety of duties such as, but not limited to, the following:

Minimum Education and Experience Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience." - Process cash receipts.
- Review, prepare, and process criminal and civil cases including misdemeanors, infractions, divorce, child custody, and juvenile cases.
- Process cases, produce records, and maintain case files in the courtroom during court sessions.
- Establish and maintain case files for adoptions, determinations of incompetency, foreclosures, motor vehicle liens, etc.
- Provide sensitive information for juvenile casework to attorneys, Guardians ad Litem (GAL), the Department of Social Services (DSS), and the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
- Administer estates of the deceased and explain procedures to family members and other authorized representatives.
