Respiratory Therapist RRT PRN Peds NICU

Overview Medical City Healthcare is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist RRT PRN for Pediatrics and NICU to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will deliver high-quality respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients in our NICU and pediatric units, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team. You will assess, plan, and implement individualized respiratory care plans for critically ill and medically complex infants and children, including the administration of oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, ventilator management, and advanced airway support. You will monitor ventilator settings and patient responses using evidence-based protocols, perform arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation, and make timely recommendations to optimize ventilation and oxygenation. You will assist with high-risk deliveries, neonatal resuscitation, and stabilization of newborns, providing expert respiratory support during emergent situations such as respiratory failure, apnea, and code events. As a PRN therapist, you will work variable shifts based on departmental needs, demonstrating flexibility and reliability while maintaining excellent communication with the care team and with patients’ families. You will be responsible for accurate and timely documentation in the medical record, participating in quality improvement initiatives, maintaining equipment and supplies in a safe and ready state, and adhering to all infection control and patient safety standards. This position requires strong technical proficiency in pediatric and neonatal respiratory modalities, sound clinical judgment, and a calm, compassionate approach in a fast-paced acute care environment. Responsibilities Deliver respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients in NICU and pediatric units, including assessment, planning, and implementation of individualized care plans. Administer oxygen therapy and aerosolized medications; perform chest physiotherapy and ventilator management; provide advanced airway support as needed. Assist with high-risk deliveries, neonatal resuscitation, and stabilization of newborns; provide support during emergent events such as respiratory failure and code events. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the medical record. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to infection control and patient safety standards. Maintain and prepare equipment and supplies to keep them in a safe and ready state. Demonstrate flexibility with variable shifts and effective communication with the care team and families. Qualifications Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential with pediatric and neonatal experience preferred. Strong technical proficiency in pediatric and neonatal respiratory modalities. Sound clinical judgment and the ability to work in a fast-paced acute care environment. Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach with patients and families.
