Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: RN License required (WV or Compact) Certifications: BLS, ONS/ONCC preferred for chemotherapy administration Must-Have: Telematics experience Central line draws Blood administration PCA pumps experience Bone marrow aspiration assist Pleurx chest tubes experience Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical/Oncology specialty. The unit has a capacity of 29 beds and serves adult patients battling cancer as well as palliative care. Family education on oncological processes is a key component of care. The nurse will care for medical and surgical patients along with telemetry and urology patients. The patient to nurse ratio is generally 4-5:1 during the day and 5-6:1 at night. Experience in chemotherapy administration is preferred but not mandatory. The role demands float capabilities within the nursing scope. Weekly shifts are comprised of every other weekend and blocked schedule requests are accommodated when possible. The facility is a Level IV Trauma Center and a major teaching hospital. The registered nurse will aid in various procedures and patient care initiatives, requiring proficiency in specific clinical skills. Teamwork and interdisciplinary support are vital components of the care provided. This position also includes the requirement to adhere to the flu vaccination policy, with exemptions considered on a medical basis. Candidates must have 2 manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years. Charting will be conducted via the Cerner system.
