Geolex, Inc.® is a geoscience and environmental consulting firm comprised of geoscientists and regulatory specialists. Since 1996, Geolex has supported clients throughout the United States and internationally on complex geological, environmental, regulatory, and subsurface matters. Our work centers on geological and subsurface investigations, regulatory permitting and compliance, and specialized injection and sequestration projects, with additional services including liability assessment, due diligence, strategic environmental consulting, and litigation and expert-witness support.

With experience in numerous geologic basins, the firm has developed specialized expertise in acid gas injection (AGI), saltwater disposal (SWD), Underground Injection Control (UIC) permitting and compliance, carbon capture and storage/sequestration, underground gas storage, and related subsurface projects.

We are seeking a full-time Geologist / Project Geologist to join our Albuquerque team. The selected candidate will support projects from subsurface feasibility and geological evaluation through permitting, construction, operations, and monitoring, while working closely with senior staff, clients, regulators, engineers, and other technical professionals.

Responsibilities

· Conduct geological and subsurface evaluations using well records, geophysical logs, drilling and completion information, pressure and injection data, and other technical datasets.

· Prepare and interpret geological maps, cross sections, well exhibits, tables, figures, and other technical analyses.

· Support UIC permitting and regulatory compliance across applicable well classes, programs, and jurisdictions, including AGI, saltwater disposal (SWD), sequestration, storage, and other injection projects.

· Research historical well records and evaluate geological conditions, faults, seismicity, and other features relevant to project feasibility and regulatory areas of review.

· Prepare technical reports, permit applications, regulatory correspondence, presentations, and client deliverables.

· Review federal and state regulatory requirements and assist in developing project-specific compliance approaches.

· Support litigation and expert-witness matters, when needed, through technical research, data review, geological interpretation, and preparation of analyses and exhibits.

· Participate in field activities, client and regulatory meetings, hearings, and project coordination; manage assigned tasks and deliverables with independence appropriate to experience.

Minimum Qualifications

· B.S. or M.S. in Geology, Geological Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related geoscience field.

· 2+ years of relevant professional experience preferred; candidates with substantially greater experience are encouraged to apply.

· Strong geological fundamentals, analytical ability, technical writing and communication skills, and attention to detail.

· Ability to balance multiple projects and meet expected completion deadlines in a team-oriented consulting environment.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and similar professional software.

· Ability and willingness to travel for project sites, field activities, meetings, hearings, and other assignments as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience interpreting geophysical well logs and subsurface geological data.

· Experience or exposure to geologic interpretation, subsurface mapping, and/or geologic modeling, including use of GeoGraphix, Petra, Kingdom, Petrel, or similar platforms.

· Experience with ArcGIS Pro and/or data-analysis and visualization tools such as Spotfire.

· Experience with subsurface injection, environmental or energy consulting, carbon sequestration, underground gas storage, well permitting, or related work.

· Experience evaluating regulatory requirements and/or conducting site visits and field investigations.

· Experience with oil and gas exploration and development, but not required.

· GIT certification, Professional Geologist licensure, or eligibility and interest in pursuing professional licensure.

Candidates do not need prior experience in every technical area listed above. Geolex values strong fundamentals, sound judgment, curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to learn specialized technical and regulatory work.

· Base salary dependent upon experience, education, qualifications, and anticipated level of responsibility.
