Electrical Hardware Engineer Are you a hands‑on engineer that enjoys developing and fielding groundbreaking autonomous systems and capabilities? Join us at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) to help rapidly field autonomous sensor systems that collect information in some of the most austere environments around the globe. Responsibilities Design, fabricate, and integrate custom printed circuit boards for embedded systems with digital interfaces and analog sensors. Develop and maintain system architectures for embedded systems. Specify, identify, and integrate commercial and custom components for rapid electronic system development. Conduct design reviews, bench testing, and field testing to debug embedded designs. Document system development, engineering analysis, and testing per quality requirements and present information to review teams. Travel into the field to test and demonstrate systems, and train users and operators. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. 3+ years of experience with embedded systems, including design, development, integration, and/or test of hardware. Ability to multi‑task across several projects and work independently in small teams while meeting quick turnaround demands. Willingness and ability to work in classified laboratories and in the field worldwide for up to 10% of time. Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with team members of different experience levels and backgrounds. Ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance by start date and ultimately obtain Top Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. 5+ years of experience with embedded systems, including design, development, integration, and/or test of hardware. Experience with development, design, or integration with autonomous vehicles. Active Top Secret clearance.
