Job Summary
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) will be responsible for responding to workplace medical emergencies, assessing patients, providing basic life support and first aid, and assisting with the safe transportation of patients to appropriate healthcare facilities when necessary.
The successful candidate will work closely with paramedics, nurses, physicians, occupational health professionals, safety teams, and local emergency services to ensure timely and effective emergency medical response.
This position requires strong emergency response skills, sound judgment, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities
The Emergency Medical Technician may work in a combination of occupational health clinics, emergency response stations, ambulances, agricultural fields, processing facilities, warehouses, and outdoor locations.
The work environment may involve exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, machinery, agricultural equipment, chemicals, and changing weather conditions. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be provided.
The position requires physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting with the movement and transportation of patients.
The EMT must be able to respond quickly to emergency situations throughout company facilities.
Flexible scheduling may be required, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments.

Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies, workplace injuries, and accidents at agricultural and production facilities.
- Conduct initial patient assessments to determine the nature and severity of illnesses or injuries.
- Provide basic life support (BLS), CPR, first aid, and other emergency medical interventions within the EMT scope of practice.
- Monitor and document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.
- Provide oxygen therapy and basic airway management when required.
- Control external bleeding and provide basic treatment for wounds, burns, fractures, sprains, and other injuries.
- Assist patients experiencing medical emergencies such as respiratory distress, allergic reactions, seizures, diabetic emergencies, and heat-related illnesses.
- Stabilize patients and prepare them for safe transportation to hospitals or other healthcare facilities.
- Assist paramedics and other advanced medical personnel during emergency response and patient transport.
- Safely lift, move, position, and transport patients using stretchers and other emergency medical equipment.
- Communicate patient information clearly and accurately to paramedics, nurses, physicians, and receiving healthcare teams.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatments, interventions, and emergency response activities.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain emergency medical equipment, vehicles, first-aid supplies, and response kits.
- Ensure medical supplies and emergency equipment are properly stocked and ready for use.
- Follow infection-control procedures, workplace safety standards, emergency response protocols, and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Participate in emergency preparedness drills, first-aid training, and workplace safety programs.
- Educate employees on basic first aid, emergency response procedures, heat illness prevention, and workplace injury prevention.
- Collaborate with occupational health and safety teams to identify potential hazards and improve emergency response procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an approved Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training program.
- Current state EMT certification or license.
- National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification preferred or required based on applicable regulations.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record if operating emergency response vehicles is required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of EMT, emergency response, ambulance, occupational health, or related experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of basic emergency medical care, first aid, CPR, and patient assessment.
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to common medical and trauma emergencies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions during emergency situations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary emergency response teams.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate patient documentation.
- Experience working in ambulance services, fire departments, industrial EMS, occupational health, or workplace emergency response.
- Experience responding to injuries in agricultural, manufacturing, construction, warehouse, or industrial environments.
- Knowledge of occupational safety and emergency preparedness procedures.
- Experience managing heat-related illnesses, dehydration, chemical exposure, machinery-related injuries, and other workplace emergencies.
- Familiarity with OSHA or applicable workplace health and safety standards.
- Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
