Aerospace Engineering (UAS Autonomy and Geographical Information Systems), Assistant Professor

Position Assistant Professor of UAS Autonomy and Geographical Information Systems, Department of Aerospace Engineering, College of Engineering, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Salary Range: $107,312 - $111,312. Responsibilities Teach lower‑division, upper‑division, and graduate aerospace engineering courses, including UAS autonomy, aircraft stability & control, remote sensing applications, sensing and data acquisition, and other autonomy‑focused areas. Develop new curriculum and experiential learning opportunities in UAS autonomy, GIS, AI/Geospatial Data Analysis, GeoAI, photogrammetry, mapping, and related fields. Support senior‑project sequences and other project‑based learning activities. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, including advising and research supervision. Pursue external funding, demonstrate scholarly activity, and participate in department, college, and university service. Collaborate with other colleges to develop and introduce new courses, minors, and externally funded programs in autonomous UAS systems and remote sensing. Minimum Requirements A Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Remote Sensing, Geospatial Analysis, or a closely aligned field from an accredited university conferred by the start date. Preferred Qualifications Strong academic background in UAS autonomy, aircraft stability & control, avionics systems, mission planning, and sensing & data acquisition. Demonstrated experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate aerospace engineering courses and developing autonomy‑focused curriculum. Demonstrated ability to publish peer‑reviewed articles, secure external funding, and mentor student research. Industrial, government, or professional experience in aerospace engineering, aircraft design, systems engineering, or related areas. Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field from an ABET‑accredited program (preferred). Excellent written and oral communication skills.
