SUMMARY
Northline Seafoods is a seafood processing company looking for an experienced and motivated Production Manager to lead our processing crew through pre-season preparations and in-season operations. The position will place a heavy emphasis on maximizing processing capabilities and freezing capacity through a combination of technical expertise and leading a team. As we grow, we’re looking for an all-hands-on-deck perspective.ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Planning and scheduling all production activities, in coordination with the Vessel Manager on the barge in Bristol Bay. Serves as the Vessel Manager in their absence. Works closely with engineering and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and improve production systems, controls and automation. Provides technical leadership related to fish pumps, conveyor systems, freezers, motors, solenoids, VFDs, PLCs and process control systems. Utilizes production control interfaces such as Ignition to monitor system performance, identify operational abnormalities and assist with troubleshooting. Works closely with the Deck team to ensure a continuous flow of product to the plant as required to maximize freezing capacity. Train, supervise and coach all production employees. Manage performance issues in coordination with the HR team through proper disciplinary channels. Works as a hands-on leader with regular presence on the production floor. Promotes seafood product quality among the processing staff with a hands-on approach. Directs the processing leads and staff in the layout and arrangement of work processes in the plant. Along with the QA Manager, develops standard operating procedures for all production positions. Provides safety training to processing staff as required with a zero-accident tolerance approach. Maintains daily production records and reports abnormalities to the team so they can be addressed. Manages and keeps accurate records of packaging and product inventory. Participates in regulatory agency inspections and works to address deficiencies promptly. Maintains the highest regard for safety policies and safety training of processing staff. All other duties as assigned.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a manager/supervisor within the fish processing industry with an emphasis on freezing operations and freezer maximization. Has extensive knowledge of all aspects of production including proper handling, species sorting, flash freezing, labeling, packaging and storing seafood products. Knowledge of salmon processing is a must for this role. Forklift experience is a must for this role. Knowledge of Bristol Bay operations is a huge plus for this role. Knowledge on appropriate use of emergency equipment located on the barge. The ability to work independently and provide clear direction to a team is a critical function as this position will lead all production operations in the absence of the Vessel Manager. Ability to solve problems and make clear rational decisions in a fast-paced work environment.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position works aboard our stationary floating processing facility anchored near Dillingham, AK. It is physically demanding and requires candidates who can handle long hours, including up to 16-hour days, seven days per week. Employees must be able to work in cold, wet, and confined environments for extended periods, performing repetitive full-body movements such as bending, twisting, squatting, and lifting. The role also involves climbing multiple levels of stairs and safely navigating tight spaces without assistance. Additionally, candidates must be capable of regularly lifting up to 25 pounds, with occasional heavier lifting as needed.DISCLAIMER
