Job Overview The Float Pool is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to perform routine clinical and clerical tasks under the direction of a physician or other health practitioner. Clinical duties may include triage, taking and recording vital signs, medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, processing prescription refills, and assisting with minor procedures as directed. The CMA acts as a practice ambassador, contributing to overall patient experience, safety, and privacy. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED At least 6 months of relevant experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred: Phlebotomy and EKG experience Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) system, Epic Certifications and Licenses Required BLS Certification approved by the American Heart Association Medical Assistant Certification: AAMA, AECA, AMCA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, NCMA, or NHA Scheduling Requirements Alternating shifts Monday‑Friday Full‑Time Travel required to Bergen, Essex, Passaic, and Union County cities Essential Functions Perform clinical tasks such as blood draws, EKGs, hearing and vision screens, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, medication administration, treatments, and minor surgeries as needed Support practice needs with clerical tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting co‑pays, preparing lab requests, and other assigned tasks Communicate with insurance providers and handle pre‑authorizations and certifications as necessary Prepare rooms, arrange instruments and equipment, and maintain a neat and sanitary environment Room patients, verify patient information, confirm purpose of visit, obtain and record vitals and update medical history Communicate with patients and other providers per the instruction of the overseeing physician or health practitioner Create and maintain health record information, file and organize as needed Other duties as assigned Other Things To Know This job description outlines the core responsibilities of the role, but it may evolve over time based on team needs and priorities.
