The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and administrative tasks within a medical facility. This position involves direct patient interaction, including preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and assisting with medical procedures such as phlebotomy and specimen collection. The Medical Assistant is responsible for maintaining medical instruments and ensuring proper sterilization to uphold patient safety and infection control standards. Additionally, this role requires collaboration with Nurse Practitioners and other healthcare professionals to facilitate efficient patient care and documentation. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to delivering high-quality healthcare services by combining clinical skills with compassionate patient support.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
• Certification in phlebotomy and experience with blood draw procedures.
• Proficiency in taking and recording vital signs accurately.
• Knowledge of specimen processing and sterilization techniques.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
• Experience working alongside Nurse Practitioners in a clinical setting.
• Advanced training in medical instrument handling and infection control.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for patient interaction.
• Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
• Assist healthcare providers, including Nurse Practitioners, during medical examinations and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and draw blood samples accurately and safely for laboratory testing.
• Process and label specimens following established protocols to ensure proper handling and tracking.
• Maintain and sterilize medical instruments and equipment to comply with infection control standards.
• Manage patient records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy laws.
• Schedule patient appointments and coordinate communication between patients and healthcare staff.
• Educate patients on basic healthcare practices and provide instructions as directed by medical staff.
