Nurse Educator (RN) OR/Endo Department

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Nurse Educator (RN) for our OR/Endo department who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. Qualified candidates will be eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus. (*Current AHC employees not eligible see below under additional details.) As an Education Specialist, you will:

• Report directly to the Director of Professional Development and Practice
• Oversee Onboarding/Orientation of newly hired staff
• Ongoing assessment of competency and evaluation of performance
• Provision of continuing nursing education
• Identify practice gaps and learning needs
• Develop an appropriate education plan based on professional practice gaps and learning needs
• Assist nurses in preparation for certification in a specialty
• Coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate activities that promote professional role development
• Perform as a nurse planner and provide contact hours for educational offerings
• Acts as a subject matter expert for policy and best-practice development

Qualifications include:

• Required: BSN (MSN preferred)
• 4-5 years of perioperative nursing experience, including Operating Room circulator responsibilities experience recommended
• Experience supporting a range of surgical procedures (e.g., general, orthopedic, GYN, neuro, oncology, endoscopy)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Preferred: Background in surgical technology or collaboration with surgical tech teams
• Experience in education, training, or precepting clinical staff
• Leadership experience such as charge nurse or team lead
• Specialty certification (or interest in obtaining)
• Familiarity with AORN standards and perioperative best practices
• Engagement with professional organizations (e.g., AORN, Association of Surgical Technologists)

Work Schedule:

SGMC performs approximately 11,000 surgeries annually. Surgical Services team members include nurses, surgical technicians, surgical assistants, and others with variable shift times. SGMC provides surgical services 24/7.

• Sign-On incentive: of $20,000 paid in 3 installments (at 90 days, 1 year, and 2 years from hire date). *Current AHC employees are not eligible for a sign-on bonus if transferring between entities or within the same entity. Former employees must be separated from AHC for at least six months before becoming eligible if hired into a bonus-eligible role.

Pay Range:

$77,313.60 - $115,980.80
