Staff Accountant

Our client is looking for a Staff Accountant. This position is hybrid located in Downtown LA, CA.

• Salary: $85,000 - $100,000 + bonus + benefits

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily accounting operations, including journal entries, account reconciliations, SOX compliance, and financial reporting.
• Review monthly financial packages from third-party property management companies to ensure accuracy, completeness, and GAAP compliance.
• Prepare month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting analyses.
• Maintain debt accounting, including reconciliations and reporting.
• Analyze financial results and budget-to-actual variances for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Improve accounting processes and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely and accurate transaction recording.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
• Resolve accounting issues, maintain standard operating procedures, and assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience in public accounting and/or industry.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, including consolidations; real estate accounting experience preferred.
• CPA preferred; Big 4 experience is a plus.
• Experience with real estate or investment accounting and systems such as Yardi and FAS preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, improve processes, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while exercising sound judgment.
