Department Manager- Structured Cabling

This is a specialized role requiring high flexibility. While you can initially reside in any state, you must be open to permanent relocation after six months to Georgia, Arizona, or another state dictated by our primary operations. The first six months will feature a heavy travel rotation: three weeks on-site, one week at home, and one week at a new project location. Job Summary The Department Manager is responsible for supervising and directing the work activities of their respective team. All aspects of the assigned department must be carried out as efficiently as possible with respect to staffing, materials management, financial management, customer care and customer delivery goals. Job Duties and Responsibilities The Department Manager will recruit, hire, train, manage, supervise, promote, discipline and discharge, if necessary, all department staff. Effectively manage all human resource issues and update per Company policies and procedures. Complete recommendations for employee performance ratings, promotions and pay changes. Provide guidance and mentoring to meet all department goals and objectives. Manage workload distribution of department staff. Plan, manage, monitor and maintain project profitability to achieve Company goals. Manage scopes of work including structured cable, audio-visual, security, life safety, estimating or BIM. Participate in and/or facilitate the bid process. Manage all related quality and safety issues on customer work. Serve as the Company liaison for interface with customer representatives. Create, develop and implement account process improvement(s). Other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Physical and Mental Requirements: Must be self-motivated, positive, professional, lead others; promote company culture; possess strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills; interpret blueprints and project documents; travel within branch or regional territory; learn company and customer project management systems; secure and maintain a company-sponsored American Express card. Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements: High School diploma or GED equivalency (Bachelor’s degree preferred); minimum of 7 years supervisory or managerial experience; minimum of 5 years experience in telecommunications or a related technical or construction field; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project); meet company minimum driving standards; manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously; supervise multiple direct reports; develop detailed project scope and manage to completion. Other Requirements: Minimum 6+ years overall experience; must be able to travel and carry company card; license required as specified. Travel and Relocation Must be able to travel within branch territory and/or regional territory as needed and be willing to relocate permanently after six months to Georgia, Arizona, or a state dictated by primary operations.
