POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Monday through FridayFull-time, 40 hours per week)First shift (Some off-shift work may be required based on operational needs)Location: Central Office, WethersfieldThis position may be eligible to apply for telework after successful completion of the working test period and thereafter in accordance with the Telework Policy. The Director of Internal Audit will be responsible for directing staff and overseeing the operations of the Department of Correction’s internal audit program. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:Formulate program goals and objectives;Develop, review, and evaluate policies and procedures;Interpret and administer applicable laws and regulations;Evaluate staff;Assist in preparing the program budget.OUR MISSION

Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in a supervisory capacity. NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted to be at the level of a Supervising Accountant or a Supervising Accounts Examiner. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWEDCollege training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor’s degree.A Master's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, public administration or in a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the General Experience.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience evaluating internal controls, risk management practices, regulatory compliance, and fraud prevention or detection processes.Experience analyzing financial and operational data and developing recommendations based on findings.Experience developing, reviewing, and evaluating policies and procedures.Experience identifying process improvements and evaluating their implementation.Experience auditing public-sector, for-profit, or nonprofit organizations.Experience preparing and issuing audit reports and other audit-related documentation.Experience presenting audit findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Incumbents in this class are required to possess and maintain at least one of the following certifications: Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Fraud Examiner.
