Material Handler – Day & Overnight Shifts – $21/hr

Location: Durham, NC
Pay: $21.00 per hour
Job Type: Contract / Temp to Perm
Shift: Days or overnight
Schedule: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM. Work Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday one week, then Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday the following week.

About the Position

We are hiring Material Handlers for a temperature-controlled facility in Durham. In this role, you will help process recyclable materials, prepare shipments, clean reusable containers, and track materials using a tablet. Both day and overnight openings follow a rotating schedule that includes weekends.

Job Responsibilities

• Collect materials from storage or work areas and deliver them to designated locations using pallet jacks and handcarts.
• Check and sort recyclables by material grade and shipment destination.
• Fill compactors and trailers, and load materials into vehicles.
• Apply straps, bracing, or protective padding to keep loads secure.
• Run a baler as part of recycling operations.
• Decontaminate containers before they return to production.
• Enter and review part numbers, quantities, locations, and notes on a tablet.
• Mark containers and attach identification labels or tags.
• Check material records through audits and document completed tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Entry-level applicants are welcome; the listed experience range is zero to four years.
• Ability to use a tablet to enter and review work information.
• Availability for 12-hour shifts and the listed rotating schedule, including weekends.

Work Environment & Requirements

• Work takes place in a temperature-controlled waste and recycling area.
• Exposure to operating equipment and noise throughout much of the workday.
• Regular pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and lifting, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent handling of objects weighing less than 50 pounds.
• Long-sleeve shirts and pants are required.
• Steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and a high-visibility vest are provided.
• A pre-employment physical abilities test, background check, and drug screen must be completed before starting.
• Interviews are conducted in person.
