Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Research Nurse II to support Phase I clinical research studies. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical nursing skills, preferably in an ICU, telemetry, or emergency room setting, and availability to work night shifts and alternating weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the execution of Phase I clinical research study protocols.
• Ensure the safety, confidentiality, and well-being of study participants.
• Assess adverse events and complete safety reporting in a timely manner.
• Review study protocols and informed consent forms and communicate potential issues.
• Perform nursing procedures and study-related activities in compliance with SOPs, GCP, ICH, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate study activities with principal investigators, study physicians, screening teams, and other research personnel.
• Maintain accurate source documentation and help resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with training new nursing personnel and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Support participant recruitment, screening, and enrollment activities.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois nursing license.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience ;
• Strong clinical nursing skills, including IV insertion, patient assessments, wound dressings, and computer documentation.
• Ability to work independently and respond appropriately to urgent clinical situations.
• Availability for night shifts and every other weekend.
• Ability to participate in approximately six weeks of orientation, with training across all three shifts as required.
• Ability to work on-site in North Chicago, IL .

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an ICU, emergency room, or telemetry unit.
• Med-Surg nursing experience will also be considered.
• Previous clinical research experience, including adverse-event documentation and safety reporting, is a plus but not required.

Schedule Details

• Typical hours may be around 16–24 per week
• Night shifts may include 8-hour or 12-hour schedules.
• Every other weekend availability is required; Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night availability is preferred.
• Typical weekend shift times:
• Night shift: 10:45 PM–7:15 AM
• Extended night shift: 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
• Approximately six weeks of orientation, including training across all three shifts based on training needs.
