Overview The Special Education Supervisor at LEARN Academy plays a crucial role in overseeing and improving special education services for students with diverse learning needs. The supervisor’s primary responsibility is to ensure the effective implementation of comprehensive special education programs that enhance students' academic, social, and emotional development, promoting their success in the educational environment. The Special Education Supervisor’s responsibilities span across various school settings, interacting with students, teachers, parents, administrators, and other professionals to ensure a student-centered approach to education support. The supervisor provides leadership in developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and support to help students with disabilities access the curriculum and achieve their educational goals. As part of Learn Academy, the Special Education Supervisor contributes to the company's mission of improving the quality and efficiency of special education services. The supervisor’s work directly supports positive outcomes for students and strengthens partnerships with schools, aligning with the organization's commitment to evidence-based practices and flexible solutions in education. Responsibilities Oversee special education programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, district, and school-specific requirements while supporting the development and implementation of IEPs. Maintain regular in-person presence at assigned school site(s) to observe staff, support service delivery, attend meetings, address school/district partner needs, and ensure program quality and compliance. Lead, coach, and support assigned special education staff, including conducting informal and formal observations at school sites, providing timely feedback, supporting performance review, input, addressing employee relations needs in collaboration with leadership and HR, and promoting high-quality service delivery, compliance and best practice. Develop, create, and deliver professional development and training for staff based on needs, assessments, compliance requirements, student/program needs, school/district partner expectations, and organizational priorities. Support special education program quality and compliance by participating in IEP-related activities, parent/student meetings, school-based team meetings, and day-to-day program needs, while training, coaching, and supporting staff in meeting federal, state, district, and school-specific special education requirements. During staff onboarding and training phases, may serve as the primary case manager and assist with development and implementation of IEPs, including coordinating attendance and meetings, overseeing student assessments and supporting data collection. Develop and implement strategic plans for new business development, contract renewal, program expansion and continued school/district partnership. In collaboration with Talent Acquisition and leadership, recruit, interview, and recommend staff for employment, and participate in job fairs, conferences, university partnerships, and professional community outreach as assigned to support recruitment, staffing needs, and business development. Manage and support staff performance management, including observations, feedback, performance review input, coaching, employee relations support, and proposed solutions in collaboration with leadership and HR. Conduct program audits and supervise the collection, maintenance, and review of student, staff, and program data for reporting, compliance, quality improvements, and student outcome purposes. Communicate and collaborate regularly with program leadership, school/district leadership teams, other school partners, parents, and other key stakeholders to review program progress, address concerns, share continuous improvement data, monitor student outcomes and staffing needs, support service quality, and maintain school/district partner satisfaction. Maintain current knowledge of special education laws, regulations, evidence-based practices, instructional strategies, compliance requirements, and professional standards through professional learning, research, collaboration, and review of district/state guidance; apply this knowledge to improve staff practice, program quality, compliance, and student outcomes. Ensure the delivery of high-quality special education services that meet school/district partner satisfaction goals, promote student advancement, and support positive outcomes for schools, students, and families. Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all aspects of the role, including student information, staff matters, school/district partner relations, and organizational business. Qualifications Master’s Degree At least 5 years of school-based experience in special education required. Leadership, coaching, supervision, and/or program oversight experience highly desired. State license/certification and appropriate discipline credentials required. Pass background check.
