Press Room / Stamping Manager

The Press Room / Stamping Manager is responsible for the overall performance and day-to-day operations of the stamping/press room. This position provides leadership to production, maintenance, quality, and tooling activities while ensuring the department consistently meets safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing high-volume metal stamping operations, including progressive dies, transfer presses, or similar pressroom equipment. Experience with fine blanking is highly preferred but not required . This is a hands-on leadership role for a manager who understands stamping processes, tooling, production metrics, and the demands of a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all day-to-day press room/stamping operations. Establish production priorities and ensure customer requirements are met on time. Manage department performance against safety, quality, delivery, productivity, scrap, and cost targets. Develop, coach, and hold production employees and supervisors accountable for performance. Ensure proper staffing, training, scheduling, and utilization of press room personnel. Monitor production schedules, machine capacity, downtime, scrap, efficiency, and overall equipment effectiveness. Work closely with Engineering and Tooling to address die, tooling, and process issues. Partner with Quality to resolve production issues, reduce defects, and maintain customer quality requirements. Partner with Maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and improve machine reliability. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on throughput, setup reduction, scrap reduction, productivity, and cost reduction. Establish and maintain standardized operating procedures and work instructions. Ensure presses, dies, tooling, and related equipment are operated and maintained safely and effectively. Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions related to production and quality issues. Support new product launches, tooling tryouts, process development, and production ramp-ups. Analyze production data and develop action plans to improve departmental performance. Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA requirements, and all applicable safety standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient press room environment. Participate in capital equipment planning and recommend equipment, tooling, and process improvements as needed. Communicate effectively with senior management regarding production performance, challenges, and improvement opportunities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing experience will be considered. 5+ years of progressive experience in metal stamping/pressroom manufacturing , with demonstrated leadership experience. Strong knowledge of stamping processes, including progressive die, transfer, or high-speed press operations. Experience working with stamping dies, tooling, setup/changeover, and process troubleshooting. Demonstrated success improving productivity, quality, scrap, downtime, and overall manufacturing performance. Strong understanding of manufacturing metrics and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, SMED, or similar improvement methodologies preferred. Fine blanking experience is a significant plus. Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of workplace safety and OSHA requirements.
