POSITION SUMMARY:

Overland Corporation is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Heavy Equipment Haul Driver to support our operations team. This position is responsible for transporting a variety of heavy construction equipment—including paving and civil construction machinery—between project sites across the region. The ideal candidate will have experience operating lowboy trailers, securing oversized loads, and navigating DOT regulations while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and efficiency.

JOB DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS:

• Perform daily pre-trip inspections, including checking oil, water, fuel, tires, lights, chains, binders, and other equipment prior to operation.
• Receive job assignments from supervisors or dispatch and transport equipment or materials to designated locations.
• Determine load weights, heights, and widths prior to transport to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Safely load, secure, transport, and unload heavy equipment including pavers, rollers, excavators, dozers, and other construction machinery.
• Operate lowboy trailers and other specialized hauling equipment.
• Communicate regularly with Dispatch Manager to coordinate schedules and equipment moves.
• Inspect equipment and trailers before and after transport to ensure safety and compliance.
• Maintain accurate logs and documentation in accordance with DOT and company standards.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including oversized load requirements.
• Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on trucks and trailers as needed.
• Operate equipment safely in tight construction environments and active job sites.
• Assist with additional duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE:

This position requires strong working knowledge of heavy equipment hauling, load securement, and DOT compliance. The ideal candidate must understand oversized load requirements, permitting processes, and safe transport procedures.

Knowledge of lowboy trailer operation, heavy civil equipment, and job site logistics is essential. The ability to identify potential safety risks and respond appropriately is critical.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record required.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and oversized load permitting.
• Ability to safely operate and maneuver large trailers in confined construction environments.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with dispatch and field teams.
• Willingness to work out of town when needed. 

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating commercial vehicles.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb, and secure loads as needed.
• Ability to safely climb on and off trailers and equipment.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift, carry, and handle chains, binders, and securement equipment.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
