Your Role on the Team Position Summary Reporting to the Cancer Center supervisor, the clinical nurse provides patient care to an assigned group of patients in the Cancer Center. The nurse incorporates the psycho‑motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Assists in patient research accrual by varied projects and reviewing patient schedules against available protocols. Acts as a role model to students and Clinical Nurse’s new to the unit. Functions as a Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager. Required Qualifications Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Minimum of six months demonstrated nursing experience in an acute care setting Knowledge and practice of body mechanics Knowledge and practice of age related acuity levels Demonstrated strong customer service skills Demonstrated knowledge in preparing and assisting Radiation Oncology procedures Demonstrated knowledge in Radiation Oncology treatments Demonstrated knowledge and practice of infection control techniques Current California RN license Current BLS certification All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms Understanding of JCAHO requirements Previous Radiation Oncology RN experience Chemotherapy Certification Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families Total Rewards We offer a wealth of benefits to make working at UCI even more rewarding.
