For the world's and people's tomorrows; the world's first, the world's best technologies and products; we will continue our part in creating a better society.Job DescriptionA critical technical manager within the Nidec Automation Quality team responsible for motors, motor gearbox assemblies, machining, testing, measurement systems, electronics drives and component quality, reliability, cost reduction and warranty mitigation. This is a critical role to support new product development and qualification, safe launch process, product transfers, product application engineering development, sustaining quality problem solving, customer and plant operation quality process controls. This position also provides quality direction and support to procurement to help select, qualify, and develop new suppliers to manufacture and measure product materials and parts. Finally, this role is to responsibly listen and professionally respond to the voice of the external and internal customers to manage improvement projects and metrics.ResponsibilitiesManage teams and projects to implement new products without quality, warranty or safety issuesManage New Product APQP & Safe Launch processes to proactively prevent issuesDrive and implement action plans to improve quality metricsManage projects to reduce Failure Costs of QualityInteract with customers and manage teams of functional groups to assure customer satisfactionLead 8D problem solving meetings and implement actions to resolve customer problemsChampion the business unit Six Sigma process to implement cultural changeLead quality projects to implement measurement equipment and quality systemsDevelop presentations and lead quality communicationsImplement Quality Management System to assure compliance to ISO and Nidec WayTravel to Nidec sites, suppliers and customers to verify product and process controls for qualityKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesBachelor's Degree in Engineering or Applied Science; Master's in Business Administration or Analytical Applied ScienceMinimum 5 years of quality management and manufacturing engineering experience with demonstrated capability utilizing problem solving tools to solve customer problemsPrior experience leading ISO9001 or equivalent certified Quality Management Systems with ISO 9001 lead auditor and AIAG core tools trainingCandidate must possess a solid project management background with a proven track record of completing projects using strong 8D problem solving toolsSix Sigma Green Belt certification required or commitment to complete certification, Black Belt preferred with the ability to analyze and interpret data utilizing Minitab toolsTravelDomestic and/or international travel required – typically less than 25% on averageLanguagesStrong English verbal, written and presentation skills requiredAdditional Job DetailsEqual Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action at Nidec Nidec is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.
