ESL Jobs in Hangzhou

We are currently looking for professional and dynamic English teachers to teach young learners at our English training schools in the beautiful city of Hangzhou. We have 5 centres across the city and are looking for teachers who enjoy working with children, thrive in a supportive team environment and can deliver fun, creative and engaging lessons.

Our students are aged 3 to 8 years old and class sizes are kept small, with 8 to 12 students per class. This allows teachers to build strong relationships with students and create an active, student-centred classroom environment.

Our school offers an authentic American classroom experience, with a core subject curriculum covering Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. The curriculum is designed to help students develop English communication skills, digital literacy, critical thinking and bilingual skills.

Teachers are provided with textbooks, lesson plan templates, activity books, story books, multimedia devices and teaching software. This gives teachers a clear structure to follow while still allowing room for creativity, classroom games and interactive activities.

All new teachers will receive professional pre-job training and ongoing academic support. Teachers work closely with Chinese teachers to create a positive classroom environment and ensure smooth communication with students and parents.

Teach English in Hangzhou

Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang province and is located not far south of Shanghai. The city is regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in China with numerous historic relics and natural beauty. Most famous for its picturesque West Lake, elected as a National Key Scenic location due to its historical and cultural significance and many temples, pagodas, ponds and plants.

The city is one of the most livable in China with a natural balance of local Chinese culture and Western amenities providing a dynamic atmosphere of live music, cafes and bars, a variety of events and an eclectic mixture of people from all over the world. Mix a buzzing city with a pleasant year round climate and low cost of living and you see why Hangzhou has earned the reputation it has.

Main Responsibilities

-Maximum of 20 teaching hours per week
-Maximum of 40 working hours per week
-Extra teaching hours above 80 teaching hours per month are paid at 70 RMB per extra teaching hour
-Class sizes: 8 to 12 students
-Student ages: 3 to 8 years old
-5 working days including weekends with 2 days off during the week per week
-Cooperate with Chinese staff to ensure the constructive communication and efficient operation of the centre
-Participation in Extra Curricular Activities (ECA)
-Lesson planning, creating course outlines
-Deliver classes in a professional and creative way

Compensation

-Excellent salary: 18,000 to 22,000 RMB per month
-Monthly housing allowance: 3,000 RMB
-Extra teaching-hour bonus: 70 RMB per extra teaching hour above 80 teaching hours per month
-Demo sign-up bonus: 100 RMB for every successful enrolled student
-Additional bonus: 3,000 RMB for taking 7 regular group classes
-Additional bonus: 4,000 RMB for taking 8 regular group classes
-Yearly contract completion bonus: 10,000 RMB
-Legal Z work visa provided

-Paid holidays: all Chinese national holidays plus 2 weeks of paid winter holidays and 2 weeks of unpaid summer holidays.

Requirements

-Native English speaker from UK, US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia or Ireland
-Bachelor’s degree or above
-TEFL certificate 120 hours or above preferred (required if you do not have 2 years teaching experience) – No TEFL? – We recommend INTESOL
-2 years of working experience preferred (not limited to teaching, and fresh graduates may also apply)
-Clean criminal record
-Highly responsible team player with hard-working ethics
