Kindle Energy LLC (“Kindle”) specializes in the management, optimization, and development of power generation in the United States and Canada and is a portfolio company of The Blackstone Group. Blackstone is a leading global alternative asset manager with more than $1 trillion of total assets under management. Currently, Kindle manages 10+ GWs of generation in Ohio, Indiana, Louisiana, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Colorado., with a 600 MW CCGT project under construction in West Virginia and a 600 MW CCGT under advanced development in Idaho.
We currently have an opportunity for a Vice President of Business Development to help Kindle meet growing demand for cleaner, more reliable sources of power for clients across the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Direct multi-functional teams to coordinate development and commercialization of greenfield and brownfield project developments
- Lead initiatives for the development of greenfield gas-fired generation projects
- Experience with negotiation of commercial contracts for the power purchase agreements, EPC agreements, power island equipment, partnership agreements and other major commercial documents
- Support and initiate business development efforts, working collaboratively with various colleagues, for new build as well as ongoing project and business development initiatives
- Develop and maintain customer relationships in support of development initiatives (e.g. relationships with landowners, prospective offtakers, community leaders, partners, vendors, etc.)
- Support and lead analyses, structuring, legal drafting, and negotiations associated with complex transactions for power plant developmnents (e.g. engineering design, equipment procurement, construction, offtake, fuel supply, permits, market trends, insurance related matters, etc.)
- Ability to create business case proposals for executive management and presentations for business growth and development opportunities
- Evaluate and due diligence to help make recommendations in support of large customer/industry initiatives, long-term contracted investments, and new growth opportunities
- Review, research, and respond to customer request for proposals (“ RFPs ”)
- Review, research, publish, manage responses, and make selection recommendations regarding subcontractor and/or vendor RFPs
- Conduct market research and provide analyses of multiple facets within the energy industry to develop and support new investment opportunities
- Create, review, proofread, format, and present materials such as board-quality Power Point presentations and Word documents, business correspondence, financial models, technical analyses, and investment memorandums
- Coordinate schedules and team calendars as needed
- Manage and track major project deadlines, milestones, and/or deliverables and guide them to conclusion in a timely manner
- Travel up to 25% of the time, as necessary to support business and project development initiatives
- Other duties may be required as business needs dictate
Qualifications:

- Must have a high level of self-awareness, motivation, and ability to communicate openly and timely with team members and outside counterparties
- Advanced technical and communications skills, including exceptional data analytics, written, and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- High proficiency in analytical and presentation tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, GIS/mapping tools and other applications
- Exceptional project management, communications, analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organizational skills, flexibility and ability to prioritize and work in a rapidly changing environment
- Willingness to learn and be trained in new areas as well as the power generation industry
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed
- Minimum of bachelors’ degree required, preferred coursework in business or a technical field; previous experience in the energy industry could be substituted in lieu of a business or technical degree
- Relevant work experience that will translate into a fast-paced environment
