Our client, a global leader in industrial gases and engineering solutions, is seeking a Sustainability Development Manager to join their team in Houston, Texas. This strategic role will lead sustainability initiatives across U.S. business units, leveraging incentives, certifications, and decarbonization strategies across major projects as a driver of business growth and customer value.

The Sustainability Development Manager will support the development of innovative projects that help customers achieve their decarbonization goals. Working closely with the Large Projects Business Development team, this individual will evaluate emerging technology pathways, market dynamics, regulatory developments, and environmental attributes related to low-carbon hydrogen, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and alternative feedstocks. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing the company’s sustainability objectives while identifying new growth opportunities in the evolving energy transition landscape.

Responsibilities:

• Advise customers and internal teams across the full project lifecycle, from early discussions through contracting, execution, and operations.
• Use sustainability to shape business development strategy, including certifications, incentives, and market positioning.
• Engage with government and public stakeholders to stay ahead of regulatory changes and incentive opportunities.
• Identify and secure low-carbon and biogenic feedstock sourcing strategies.
• Oversee certification and incentive requirements, ensuring accurate documentation, compliance, and integration into contracts and projects.
• Represent the organization as the sustainability lead with customers and support commercial negotiations and proposals
• Partner/Collaborate with internal teams (regions, product management, tax, project execution, operations, and corporate sustainability) to align strategy, track incentives, and support decarbonization efforts.

Requirements:

• Engineering degree (Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental) required. MBA a plus.
• 10+ years in sustainability with a strong understanding of decarbonization strategy, incentives and regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to operate as a technical expert and commercial/business partner.
• Experience with major capital projects tied directly to revenue and growth.
• Significant exposure to global standards, policy and emerging energy markets.
• Ability for limited overnight travel throughout the US.
