Commercial Loan Officer III (COMME014556) The Commercial Loan Officer III extends credit within the policies and guidelines set forth in the loan policy. The officer ensures that all loan decisions, actions, and recommendations are based on an accurate and thorough understanding of each customer’s financial needs and conditions, and comply with all laws, regulations, and bank policy. The officer must properly administer the creditworthiness and documentation of all loans and/or borrowing relationships originated or assigned to the officer. This role is responsible for maintaining current credit files and proper note and collateral security documents. Responsibilities Assign the proper credit rating to loans at origination and as conditions may change with the normal credit monitoring process. Recognize and report deterioration in the credit quality of a loan or borrowing relationship. Recommend approval and administer workout programs for problem loans. Recommend approval and monitor levels of reserves established for loans serviced by the officer. Administer the collection process either internally or with bank counsel complying with all laws and regulations. Protect depositors’ funds and stockholders’ equity. Generate earnings for the bank and its stockholders. Promote and maintain a favorable image for the bank. Interview loan applicants and make credit decisions. Develop new business and manage existing portfolio. Collect past due loans, keeping credit and collateral exceptions within policy ranges. Move the portfolio of loans and coordinate collection efforts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Interviews commercial loan applicants. (Daily, about 10%) Examines and evaluates applicant's credit and financial history. (Daily, about 10%) Examines/Views collateral (if applicable) to determine adequacy. (Daily, about 10%) Authorizes or recommends approval/denial of applicant. (Daily, about 10%) Approves loan within specified limits or refers to appropriate approval level. (Daily, about 5%) Prepares loan offering memorandum. (Daily, about 10%) Ensures all loan documents are complete, accurate and in accordance with policy. (Daily, about 5%) Closes/Declines loans in a timely manner. (Daily, about 5%) Monitors loan portfolio/performance. (Daily, about 5%) Corresponds with customers. (Daily, about 10%) Recommends changes in risk rating. (Daily, about 5%) Collects past due loan payments. (Weekly, about 5%) Develops potential loan markets and loan prospects. (Daily, about 5%) Completes required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. (Annual, about 5%) Displays the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Performs any other related duties as required or assigned. Qualifications Education and Experience Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four‑year college degree, plus 6 years related experience and/or training, and 5 years related management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Communication Skills Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane, algebra, solid geometry and trigonometry. Critical Thinking Skills Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats. Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Not indicated.
