Facilities Laborer - Maintenance

A Facilities Laborer performs general upkeep, minor repairs, and manual tasks for buildings and grounds, including cleaning, groundskeeping, painting, and assisting skilled trades with tasks like plumbing, assembly, fabrication and maintenance, ensuring a safe and functional environment using hand/power tools, often under supervision, and requiring physical stamina and safety awareness.

Key Responsibilities

· Maintenance & Repairs: Knowledge to safely perform minor electrical (light bulbs, switches, outlets), plumbing (leaks, fixtures), carpentry (crates and packaging) and assist with equipment preventive maintenance.

· Cleaning & Upkeep: Wash & detail vehicles as needed, general janitorial duties, cleaning grounds, loading areas, and equipment; trash removal.

· Groundskeeping: Mowing, weeding, trimming, and landscaping as needed.

· Equipment/Vehicle Operation: Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment such as forklifts or mowers. Operate/move production vehicles as needed.

· Assisting Trades: Help skilled technicians with aspects of primary production operations.

· Other duties as assigned

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

· Physical Ability: Strength, endurance, ability to lift heavy objects, work in various conditions (indoors/outdoors).

· Tool Proficiency: Skill in using basic hand and power tools.

· Safety Awareness: Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices.

· Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other production staff.

Variation:

· Role may range from performing basic entry-level tasks (minor repairs and upkeep) to more semi-skilled activity (assisting with actual repairs and/or production).

Licenses/Certifications:

· A valid driver’s license is required.

General Duties and Requirement

· Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, and environmental guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper disposal of hazardous waste. Maintain a clean and organized work area (adhering to 5S standards) and perform basic equipment maintenance.

· Physical Demands: The role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move objects (up to 40 lbs.), climb on vehicles or ladders, and work in various positions (squatting, kneeling, bending).

· Skills: Strong attention to detail, the ability to read and interpret technical instructions/specifications, and effective communication skills are essential.
