In both the Allison Transmission and Allison Off-Highway Drive and Motion Systems business units, our team strives to Improve the Way the World Works.Learn more about this role and how you can begin driving your career forward!Primary Purpose of Role: Under the direction of the Furnace Supervisor the Furnace Operator sets up and operates manufacturing equipment associated with material fabrication.Key Responsibilities:Loads specified furnace that re-melts nonferrous alloyed metals used in die casting process: shovels specified proportions of scrap metal and ingots into furnace.Mix fluxing compound on molten metal to bring impurities to surface.Skims slag from surface of molten metal, using hand strainer.Transfer molten metal from furnace to bull ladle to die casting holding furnace.Clean furnaces and equipment.Overtime as required.Other duties assigned by supervisor or lead.Key Performance Measures:Must have forklift experience.Must be able to pass powered lift equipment testing.Competencies and Behaviors:Required:Preferred:Qualifications:High school diploma or GED.Ability to maintain normal flow of production.Must be able to pass powered lift equipment testing.Ability to read, write and speak English.Travel or Physical Demands:Must be able to work in hot/cold environment.Office EnvironmentNoneSittingUp to 75%WalkingUp to 25%StandingUp to 25%ClimbingUp to 25%KneelingNoneKneel/CrouchNonePullingUp to 25%LiftingUp to 25%(Up to 50 lbs.)Travel requirementsNoneEqual Opportunity Employer StatementAllison Transmission/Walker Die Casting is an equal opportunity employer.
