Job Overview

The Clinical Assistant (CA) assists patients and families by supporting personal hygiene and daily living needs. The CA provides comfort, transportation, and vital sign monitoring. In addition, the CA supports and assists nursing personnel and other providers in diagnostic procedures and technical treatments and functions as a member of the healthcare team. The surgical unit is a 72- bed unit that serves a diverse patient population. We provide complex care to patients from birth to early adulthood. We are privileged to deliver world class care for trauma, solid-organ transplant, burns, general surgery, plastics, urology, colorectal, bariatrics, neurology, neurosurgery, epilepsy monitoring, etc.

Department Name: Level 6 Surgical
Job Status: Full time, 36 hours per week, eligible for benefits
Shift: Day Shift (6:45am - 7:15pm)

Weekend Requirements: 6 weekend shifts (Sat/Sun) every 8 weeks. Must work at least 2 Mondays in an 8-week block (weekday and weekend availability required)

Holiday Requirements: Rotating Holiday Schedule.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Attends to the individual needs of patients, which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, transferring, providing comfort and communicating patient needs with other members of the healthcare team.
• Performs various tasks as assigned, including checking vital signs, weighing patients, applying creams/ointments, applying/changing dressings and collecting specimens.
• Meets patient needs by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients' call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to healthcare team members.
• Serves as a conduit between patients and other healthcare providers by recording and communicating all issues to medical team members.
• Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
• Stores and prepares rooms and medical equipment for patient and healthcare team member use.
• Participates in departmental committees and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degrees
  • High School diploma or GED
• Equivalency
  • Proof of successful completion of health assessment and nursing foundation courses, in addition to basic medical/surgical clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program may be considered in lieu of designation as a CNA, MA and/or EMT.
• Licenses & Certifications
  • Designation as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), and/or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is required
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association is required.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Hourly Range: $19.18 to $28.77
Expected Range: $20.25 to $28.77
