CAD Operator

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Using design layouts, models, and other information, create design drawings for use by manufacturing. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Support CAD Designers by creating working drawings for basic shelters and mechanical and electrical modifications, including rack installations, ECU installations, entry panel installations, lighting, power distribution, and other ancillary items.
- Understand customer Technical Data Package requirements for the program.
- Incorporate drawing changes.
- Follow all CAD standards and procedures used by Gichner Shelter Systems.
- Meet CAD schedules and budgets.
- Review drawings for completeness and accuracy.
- Follow configuration requirements for documentation control.
- Interface with other departments to support the project.
- Contribute to product improvement, standardization, and department improvement projects.
- Other duties may be assigned.
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
- Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
- Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
- Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
- Resolve problems that are diversified and complex.
- Requires judgement in applying or interpreting standard practices to suit special or changing conditions.
- Fact finding and analysis are frequently required as information is not always readily available. Can interact with Gichner sources throughout the company to address problems.
- Requires judgement in coordinating analysis of diverse information, reviewing recommendations, and making decisions to resolve problems. Some tasks call for latitude and decision-making, requiring judgement in deviating from standard practice.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of technical training or equivalent experience required.
- Proficient in 2D CAD.
- Office environment.
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
