Institutional Giving Specialist

We are seeking an Institutional Giving Specialist to support LA Opera’s fundraising efforts through a range of administrative and operational responsibilities related to foundation, corporate, government, and other institutional fundraising initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving and Government Relations, this is a full‑time staff position based at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles. LA Opera currently offers hybrid work flexibility, with the option to work remotely up to two days per week in many weeks. The role also requires occasional evening and weekend hours in connection with performances and events, in addition to regular office hours Monday through Friday. Responsibilities Writing grant reports and other stewardship materials Maintaining grant tracking systems and calendars Preparing grant support materials and application documentation Assisting with donor and sponsorship presentations Tracking and drafting acknowledgement letters Assisting with donation data entry and record management Providing administrative support to the Development team Supporting Development events, including site visits, off‑site events, check‑in tables, and the Patron Lounge Performing other duties and special projects requiring a comparable level of skill, judgment, and responsibility Qualifications Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style to align with organizational voice and project needs; prior grant writing or grant reporting experience preferred Previous experience working in a nonprofit environment preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new workplace applications Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail Collaborative, team‑oriented work style with strong interpersonal skills We are committed to fostering a workplace where everyone has equitable opportunities and experiences a sense of belonging.
