Chief Financial Officer (Madison)

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our growing environmental consulting firm. This executive leadership position will play a key role in guiding the company’s financial strategy, operational growth, and long-term success.
The ideal candidate will bring strong financial leadership experience, sound business judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively with ownership and department leaders in a dynamic professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial operations of the company, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Lead and manage the accounting and finance staff
- Provide oversight and leadership for Human Resources functions and personnel administration
- Manage and maintain banking and lender relationships
- Develop financial strategies to support company growth and operational goals
- Monitor cash flow, profitability, and financial performance metrics
- Assist with strategic planning, risk management, and operational decision‑making
- Ensure compliance with all financial, tax, regulatory, and reporting requirements
- Work closely with ownership and executive leadership on long‑term planning and business initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required
- CPA preferred but not required
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive financial leadership experience
- Strong understanding of financial management, banking relationships, budgeting, and organizational leadership
- Experience overseeing HR functions and administrative operations is highly desirable
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and strategic thinking
