You will use your mechanical and diagnostic skills to identify problems, complete repairs, and support the daily operation of the Danbury fleet.Responsibilities include:Performing preventive maintenance and safety inspectionsDiagnosing and repairing diesel and automotive systemsMaintaining and repairing brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, transmissions, and related componentsCompleting work orders accurately and documenting repairsEnsuring vehicles meet company and regulatory safety standardsAssisting with mobile emergency repairs when neededWorking closely with the maintenance and operations teams to keep the fleet available for serviceDiesel Technician QualificationsYou may be a strong fit for this position if you:Have at least one year of automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicle maintenance experienceHave a valid driver's licenseAre willing and able to obtain a CDL with company-paid trainingHave a mechanic's tool setPossess strong diagnostic and problem-solving skillsAre comfortable using computers to complete work orders and access maintenance informationAre interested in expanding your skills through ASE training and certificationTake pride in performing safe, accurate, and dependable workFirst Student encourages applications from candidates who:Do not have a college degreeHave military maintenance experienceAre returning to the workforceAre looking for a stable hourly position instead of flat-rate workWant an opportunity to continue learning and advance their careerThis position is subject to DOT drug testing and physical requirements as a safety-sensitive role.
