Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Technology Counsel for their Legal Department. The right candidate will review and negotiate complex commercial transactions and agreements, including licensing and technology agreements. Provide legal guidance and support concerning e-commerce, home sale transactions, marketing, financial services, information technology and other issues that arise Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide legal advice in connection with technology agreements, including software as a service agreements, software licenses, cloud services agreements, software implementation and development agreements, professional services agreements, data licensing agreements, non-disclosure agreements and other vendor and commercial technology agreementsWork with privacy counsel on e-commerce, customer relationship management (CRM) and digital marketing practices and programs for privacy and other compliance issues; draft documentation as necessaryDraft, review, and negotiate complex commercial and technology transactions, including customer agreements, vendor contracts, SaaS agreements, data processing and security addenda, MSAs, and licensing agreementsProvide practical, business-oriented guidance on risk allocation, limitation of liability, indemnity, security obligations, privacy terms, and other legal and business risks presented by technology transactionsInteract daily with personnel across the company, including information technology, compliance, information security, privacy, procurement, financial services, marketing, compliance and other business teams, regarding a broad array of technology, contracting and compliance issues including those typically encountered in the home building industry and the mortgage and title businessesManage and prioritize multiple projects; analyze business and legal risks presented by these projects, coordinate with appropriate stakeholders; and bring these projects to a successful conclusionConduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the companyAbility to travel overnightRegular and reliable attendanceMaintain continuing education and training requirementsAdditional duties assignedQualificationsEducation and/or Experience Jurist Doctoral degree (J.D.) is required5 years or more of relevant legal experience is required, including significant experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex technology transactions and commercial agreementsCurrent license to practice lawPossess exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsProficient at working in a fast-paced, high activity environmentSelf-motivated, goal-oriented, capable of multi-tasking and completing multiple projects within stated timelinesAbility to work well within a teamAbility to communicate and build relationships via MS teams and other remote style communicationsAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form or via DRH applicationsProficiency with MS Office and emailPreferred QualificationsExperience in a leading law firm is preferredExperience with software licensing, SaaS, cloud services, vendor agreements, technology services, data privacy and security terms, data licensing, and other technology-related commercial contracts is preferred Experience with AI, and AI-related contract provisions is preferredCome join a winning team with a Fortune 500 company!
