Assignment Details Length: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP Shift: 4x12 Night Shift Guaranteed Hours: 60 Hours per 2 weeks Weekend Requirements: Coverage may be more frequent than every other weekend, based on staffing needs. Unit Information This stepdown unit from the ICU accommodates a diverse range of patient populations across multiple disciplines. The unit employs a Co-Care/Virtual Nursing Model, ensuring every patient is supported by: 1 Bedside RN (Patient Ratio: 1:4) 1 Virtual RN 1 CNA (Patient Ratio: 1:6) The virtual nurse assists with admissions, discharges, rounding, education, plans of care, and safety rounds. Clinical Responsibilities As a PCU RN, you will care for patients with a variety of medical conditions, including: Cardiac conditions such as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Myocardial Infarction (MI), post-TAVR, and more. Respiratory issues including COVID-19, Flu, COPD, asthma exacerbations, and patients on chronic home ventilators. Lower acuity patients in renal care and neuro care settings. Complicated medical-surgical patients requiring advanced monitoring. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess the following: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska (license must be obtained within 48 hours of offer) Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a relevant nursing role Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Ability to float within the scope of practice to meet facility needs Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills We welcome first-time travelers and encourage nurses who are passionate about patient care to apply.
