This role involves leading complex automation projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring engineers. Based on-site in Bartlett, IL, the engineer will drive innovation in industrial automation solutions aligned with customer needs and company goals.Accountabilities & Responsibilities:1. PROJECT EXECUTION & LEADERSHIPLead automation projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and technicians.Aid in the quoting process (e.g., creative concepts, cost estimates, time estimates, specification reviews).3. SYSTEM DESIGN & INTEGRATIONDesign and develop robotic automation systems for industrial applications.Program and integrate robots (e.g., FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa) with PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems.4. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION & SAFETYConduct risk assessments and ensure systems comply with safety standards and regulations.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering.5. DOCUMENTATION & KNOWLEDGE TRANSFERPrepare technical documentation, internal handoff documentation, user manuals, and training materials.Skills and CompetenciesHigh proficiency in robot programming (e.g., FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, KUKA)Strong knowledge of PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMIs, and industrial communication protocolsAdvanced knowledge of machine vision systems and safety integrationProject management and leadership skillsAnalytical and troubleshooting abilitiesEffective communication and collaboration skillsAbility to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawingsKnowledge of industrial standards and safety regulations (e.g., ANSI B11 series, A3 R15.06)QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field10+ years of experience in robotic automation, with a focus on industrial applicationsHands-on experience with robot programming and integrationFamiliarity with automation project lifecycle, from concept to deploymentExperience working in a manufacturing or industrial environmentCertifications in robotics or automation (preferred but not required)Travel RequirementsUp to 20%The posted salary range represents an estimate for this role.
