Levee Foreman B

Mission To provide riverine flood protection for an 8-parish district on the Atchafalaya and Mississippi River levees. To maintain equipment and work to prepare the levees for high water events and annual levee inspections. Overview of This Role The typical day of work activities for the Levee Foreman B are supervising, coordinating, planning and directing the activities of a crew of medium and heavy weight mowing equipment operators, helpers and subordinate personnel, all in connection with levee maintenance and repairs to fence right-of-way. This incumbent will work under the supervision of the Levee Maintenance Superintendent. Three years of experience as a mechanic, or in the alteration, construction, maintenance or repair of bridges, buildings, drainage facilities, grounds, levees, roads, or wharfs is required. Job Duties Supervises, coordinates, plans and directs the activities of a crew of medium and heavy weight mowing equipment operators, helpers and subordinate personnel, all in connection with levee maintenance and repairs to fence right-of-way. Determines necessary equipment required for any particular job, makes periodic inspections throughout his area of the levee district to determine efficiency of work being performed, consults with administrative supervisors, expresses individual opinion on how to perform certain jobs. Orders parts and supplies for the crew, keeps daily work reports in a manner that will enable the agency to secure federal reimbursement, maintains a line of communication between other foremen, supervisors and office personnel.
