Director, Cyber & Tech E&O Product Line Leader

Overview The primary purpose of this position is to lead and implement the strategic vision and plan of Markel's Cyber and Tech E&O product lines. The role provides leadership, direction, and support to underwriting teams, and is responsible for product profitability, growth and retention of new and renewal business in alignment with underwriting strategies. Responsibilities Lead the strategic development and execution of the Cyber/Technology E&O product lines. Provide leadership, direction, and support to underwriting teams. Manage product profitability, growth, loss ratio, and expense targets. Ensure effective execution of best practices and provide coaching and training for underwriting staff. Develop and maintain relationships with internal resources (Actuarial, Product Development, Claim, IT, Operations, Regulatory, etc.) to coordinate services and deliver superior products to customers. Assist in the continued product development, strategy, and portfolio management of the Cyber/Technology Liability suite of products. Manage and handle account referrals from the Cyber/Technology underwriters. Assist underwriters in negotiations with brokers on program structure, premiums, retentions, and terms and conditions. Assist with product development, language and endorsement drafting, and maintenance. Perform account auditing and ensure compliance. Work with the Cyber/Technology Senior Director to achieve financial goals and metrics for the product line. Champion underwriting optimization and act as a knowledge expert on industry trends. Facilitate comprehensive, relevant, and effective underwriter training. Collaborate with Claims, Product Regulatory Services, and Actuarial as needed. Attend marketing visits, broker meetings, or events as required. Qualifications Minimum of eight plus years’ experience in underwriting, claims and/or brokering in Cyber/Technology Liability or Professional Liability. Recent managerial experience is a plus. Four‑year degree in business or related field from an accredited university/college, or equivalent years of work experience. Strong customer service focus and interpersonal skills, with excellent negotiation abilities. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving/decision‑making skills. Solid understanding of cyber security protocols, emerging risks, and regulatory landscape. Team player capable of working independently as needed. High energy, capable of delivering exceptional written and verbal presentations. 25% travel required. Strong work ethic and sense of urgency. Competitive base salary with incentive and other compensable factors. Pay Information The national average salary range for the Director position is $162,800 – $223,850 per year with a 55% incentive.
