Details Labor and Delivery unit caring for deliveries, circulating c-sections, and antepartum patients Provides initial newborn assessments following delivery Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM No on-call responsibilities No floating required Follows AWHONN nurse-to-patient ratio standards, including 1:1 for Pitocin induction/augmentation, 1:2 for cervical ripening, 1:2-3 for antepartum and triage, and 1:1 for immediate postpartum care Requirements Active RN license in Louisiana or compact BLS certification required ACLS certification required NRP certification required Certification required in one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate FHM, AWHONN Intermediate FHM Instructor, AWHONN Advanced FHM Instructor, AWHONN Instructor Trainer, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) 1 year of related nursing specialty experience preferred BSN preferred Perinatal RN Residency or recent Perinatal setting experience preferred Additional Information Provides nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation Administers medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided Educates patients and families on care needs and available resources Navy blue or pink scrubs required Must complete New Nurses Orientation within first 30 days of hire Precepted by a designated trained staff member with completion of organizational and Perinatal Services-specific competency validations Must complete all annual competency verification requirements Previous non-travel employment with any CHRISTUS facility requires a 6-month separation before eligibility for a travel assignment These details are based on information provided by the facility and may include inaccuracies or be subject to updates.
