3rd Shift Maintenance Technician

SUMMARY This is a skilled position in several trades. Performs various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment. Requires proficiency in a wide variety of disciplines, with working conditions and the degree of supervision exercised differing according to the location and nature of the assignments. Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Regular attendance and presence at work as scheduled. Ability to work a 12-hour rotating schedule, including every other weekend or an 8-hour-day, 5-day week depending on assigned department schedule. Visually inspects and test machinery and equipment. Tests equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers, and pressure gauges. Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machine. Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts of machinery. Adjusts, repairs, and replaces electrical, electronic and pneumatic control devices. Installs and repairs of electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment. Installs electrical conduit, wiring, switching, devices, controls, outlets, fixtures, motors, and other such equipment, 110V to 480V, both single and three phase. Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment. Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controller. Ability to troubleshoot and maintain PLC and CNC equipment with working knowledge of PLC logic. Set up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools. Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures. Prepare accurate records for preventive maintenance. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to five years experience in building and plant maintenance work which has involved, building, electrical and mechanical trades; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Although optional, may have a variety of professional licenses.
