Job Title: Mechanical Aerospace Assembler
Job Description
This role performs a wide range of mechanical assembly operations to build major aerospace structures such as doors, mechanisms, and structural subassemblies including rudders, flaps, and stabilizers. You will work from manufacturing orders and drawings, align parts on jigs using templates and fixtures, and use hand and power tools to complete precision assemblies that meet strict quality and dimensional requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical assembly of major structures such as doors, mechanisms, rudders, flaps, stabilizers, and other structural subassemblies in accordance with manufacturing orders and engineering drawings.
- Lay out parts based on manufacturing orders and drawings, verifying quantities, part numbers, and assembly instructions before starting work.
- Align and secure parts on jigs using templates, fixtures, and other setup tools to ensure accurate positioning and fit.
- Carry out minor part-fitting operations including filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming to achieve required dimensions and finishes.
- Measure parts and assemblies using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring devices to verify dimensions and maintain close tolerances.
- Modify incomplete or completed assemblies as needed to incorporate engineering changes or structural updates.
- Monitor and verify product quality in accordance with statistical process control or other established quality control procedures.
- Pull, set up, and return tools, jigs, templates, and fixtures required for each job, ensuring proper use and care of equipment.
- Operate designated machines and hand tools safely and effectively with minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks.
- Package and box finished assemblies for shipment in accordance with work orders and customer specifications.
- Familiarize yourself with Swaging Assembly Processes and Procedures, including applicable Business Quality Management System (BQMS) procedures, and follow them consistently.
- Perform computer-based MRP data entry as needed to support production and documentation requirements.
- Participate in special projects when requested and support continuous improvement efforts on the production floor.
- Follow written planning and work order instructions, reading and interpreting documentation accurately.
- Maintain good attendance, a positive attitude, and professional communication while working cooperatively with team members across departments.
- Support a safe and organized work area, adhere to all safety and PPE requirements, and report any issues or concerns promptly.
- Demonstrate willingness to learn new processes and, as required, assist and help train others on tools, procedures, and assembly techniques.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to meet production and quality objectives.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3+ years of aerospace or mechanical assembly experience.
- Experience with riveting, nutplate installations, bonding, and bushing and bearing installations with instruction.
- Ability to perform mechanical assembly using hand tools and power tools in a production environment.
- Basic math skills to perform measurements, calculations, and interpret dimensional requirements.
- Ability to learn and apply blueprint reading skills to follow drawings and manufacturing orders.
- Capability to learn general Tier II level aerospace assembly concepts and procedures.
- Familiarity with or ability to learn computer-based MRP data entry systems.
- Good manual dexterity and the ability to maintain close tolerances using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
- Ability to use a variety of manufacturing tools and measuring devices safely and accurately.
- Basic English language skills with the ability to read, follow, and interpret planning documents and work order instructions.
- Consistently good attendance and a reliable work ethic.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others in a fast-paced production environment.
- Willingness to learn new skills and processes and to help and train others when needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Completion of Washington State aerospace training or similar mechanical aerospace assembly training is a plus.
- 6+ years of mechanical aerospace assembly experience is highly valued for more advanced responsibilities.
- Experience working with rivet installation and other aerospace fastening methods.
- Exposure to Swaging Assembly Processes and Business Quality Management System (BQMS) procedures.
- Prior experience reading and working from blueprints and detailed assembly documentation.
- Familiarity with statistical process control or other quality control procedures in a manufacturing environment.
- Comfort using a wide range of hand tools and power tools in an assembly or production setting.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and desire for long-term growth and advancement within a manufacturing organization.

Work Environment
The role is based in a large warehouse-style manufacturing facility that includes machine operations, shipping, and powder coating departments. The environment is fast paced and production-focused, with frequent use of hand tools, power tools, jigs, templates, fixtures, and precision measuring devices. You will work around active machinery and moving materials, following established safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment. Typical manufacturing attire is expected: steel-toe footwear is required, jeans are allowed, and appropriate t-shirts or long-sleeved shirts are acceptable. Any additional PPE required by specific departments will be provided. The facility supports overtime and offers a degree of schedule flexibility while maintaining consistent working hours for most roles.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
