POSITION SUMMARY:The Data Management Analyst is responsible for assisting with harnessing the data available in our EHR system to improve our clinics’ operations and our patients’ health. The Data Analyst plays a key role by extracting data from the EHR and transforming it into intelligent, actionable reports.The position involves understanding the data needs of agency staff, mastering the intricacies of ourEHR system (front-end and back-end), writing complex SQL queries, presenting data in user-friendlyways, and automating reports where possible. In addition to PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server, the data analyst will use a variety of technologies, from Excel to Crystal Reports to COGNOS, as well as some Ruby scripting and other automation tools.Essential Functions:Write complex SQL queries to extract data from the EHRBuild a reusable library of reports in Excel, Crystal, and CognosDevelop a deep familiarity with the EHR application and its database schemaCorrectly interpret precise report specificationsHandle requests from internal customers and clarify their reporting needsMaintain and enhance our reporting infrastructure and tools (ETL scripts, view definitions,automation tools, new self-serve reporting options, etc.)Develop and maintain dashboards to monitor NCQA and HEDIS clinical measures.Provide help desk assistance to end users on our Medical Management systemCreate and develop forms for the collection of data, and work with other staff install areas to improve the collection dataPerform other related duties as assigned by supervisorEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other healthcare related disciplineMinimum of 2 years of experience, including a focus on data analysis and other skills relevant to data management, preferably in healthcareKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:Excellent logical reasoning and problem-solving skillsAbility to write complex SQL queriesGeneral computer wizardry and ability to learn new programs quicklyExpert with one or more of the following: Excel, Crystal, Cognos, or similar reporting toolSome experience with scripting languages such as Python or Ruby, or a desire and aptitude to learnExcellent verbal and written communication skillsSelf-starter and impact playerInterest in and commitment to CHN’s mission
